![]() Lake Tahoe Boating Regulations and Information
Channel Access Arrangements for the parking of boat trailers can be made thru the Marina’s fee based parking. Tahoe Keys Waterways Boat stereos, music and other amplified sound should be kept to a minimum level when operating your boat in the waterways. The water in the channels causes sound to carry across the water with amazing clarity and volume. Two stroke engines that are carbureted are prohibited in the Lake Tahoe region. Most fuel injected two-stroke and four-stroke engines are welcome. Be certain your engine and particularly your personal watercraft are clean enough for Tahoe. Be advised that when launching your boat at any launch ramp at Lake Tahoe, it will likely be inspected for the presence of quagga/zebra mussels and other harmful invasive species. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated. When fueling your boat, please be extra careful. The same applies to dirty or questionable bilge water. Refuel personal watercraft (PWC) and boats away from the lake whenever possible or use fuel spill prevention devices. Alcohol is a contributing factor to many boating accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Alcohol combined with wind, boat noise, vibration, wave action, and sun glare have a tremendous adverse influence on judgment and response time in boating. Do not drink and drive a boat! If necessary, select a designated driver who has not been drinking to operate the vessel. Operating a recreational vessel while intoxicated is a federal offense punishable by a fine of up to $5000, one year in prison, or both. Please be sure to keep all trash and litter out of the lake and waterways. Dispose of trash properly in appropriate receptacles.
*If you are planning to bring your own boat or personal water craft to Lake Tahoe, please be sure you understand that two stroke engines are not permitted. Click Here for more details. |
