Sailing

The beauty of sailing lies in the fact that you can do it
anyway you like. You can escape to a world that is as simple
or as complicated as you wish to make it. You can cruise,
snooze, race, drift, be sociable or seclusive -- whatever
suits your mood. When you are in Tahoe, take some time to
go sailing. Relax aboard a charter cruise or rent a sailboat.
Discover why Lake Tahoe's size, weather and wind conditions
make it a perfect pleasure to sail.
Tahoe Sailing Charters
Avoid the crowds on large cruise boats and experience
the beauty and serenity of Lake Tahoe in a truly natural way. Captain Mike Pavel
can accommodate a party of one to six people on his 35-foot J105 sailboat, the "Avalanche." Enjoy
hands-on sailing or just sit back and relax. Two-hour cruises in the afternoon
and a two-hour sunset cruise each evening are offered between May 15 and September
30. The Avalanche can also be chartered for a half or full day. Lessons from
the basics to advanced sailing and cruising to regatta racing are offered. Call
for rates and reservations.

Woodwind
Sailing Cruises
As one of the oldest sailing excursion companies in the United
States, Woodwind Sailing Cruises have been skimming the crystalline
waters of Lake Tahoe for nearly 25 years.
A Woodwind Sailing Cruise is more than a boat ride. It's an
adventure steeped in history and romance. White billowing
sails and tall masts bring the time-honored tradition of sailing
to life on each and every cruise. Sailing at more than 6,000
feet above sea level while surrounded by snowcapped peaks
soaring 10,000 feet is truly an experience to remember.
The multi-hull design of these yachts was built for flat,
stable and comfortable sailing under all conditions. No special
clothing or shoes are required. The spacious seating, wide
decks and enclosed cabins offer comfort to everyone aboard.
The attractive cabins below deck offer inside comfort, restroom
facilities, glass-bottom viewing windows, plush upholstery
and handcrafted woodwork. Both vessels provide a full-service
bar and state-of-the-art sound system.
The Woodwind I and Woodwind II host informal and formal parties.
Weddings are one of their specialties. The yachts sail from
April 15 to October 15. Special cruises may be arranged from
November through March. Woodwind Sailing Cruises offer daily
tours, cruises and private charters for all occasions. Call
for additional information, rates and reservations.

about two hours. The Happy Hour Cruise features special drink
prices and snacks and lasts about an hour and a half. And
the two-hour Sunset Champagne Cruise lets you enjoy the colorful
