Strolls in Wildflower Meadows
The wildflowers in the Lake Tahoe Basin are most abundant and colorful
in late spring and early summer. Any time of the day can be romantic
as you leisurely stroll hand-in-hand along picturesque paths framed
with wildflowers. The common wildflower colors include blue, purple,
pink, red, white, and yellow. The not-so-common wildflower names include
Indian Paintbrush, Shooting Star, Mountain Mule Ears, Pink Monkeyflowers,
Ranger Buttons and Cow Parsnip. All of the shores of Lake Tahoe offer
splendid opportunities to stop and smell the flowers and stop and
kiss your sweetheart. Although the wildflowers are only in bloom part
of the year, romance blossoms year-round in Tahoe!
Visit the HIKING page
in the OUTDOORS section
of the RECREATION main
menu for descriptions and directions to nine wildflower strolls that
vary from two to five miles in length.

Lake Cruises
Early Sunset & Dinner Dance Cruises
The M.S. Dixie II and the Hornblower's Tahoe Queen are authentic paddlewheelers.
Both offer an opportunity to enjoy a romantic Sunset Cruise or a Dinner
Dance Cruise. During these cruises you'll enjoy breathtaking views
of the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains and the crystal-clear waters
of Lake Tahoe. These vessels offer full-service bars, freshly prepared
food and live music. Paddlewheelers can entertain 500 people, but
you can still have a personally romantic experience as a couple because
the vessels are really big.
Sunset Champagne Cruises
If you are looking for a more intimate lake cruise, Woodwind Sailing
Cruises offers a two-hour Sunset Champagne Cruise that lets you enjoy
the colorful evening light and spectacular panoramas as you sip complimentary
beverages. Two sunset cruises depart daily at 7:00 p.m. most of the
season, but may vary based on the time of sunset. The Woodwind II
is a 50-passenger, 55-foot catamaran that sets sail from Zephyr Cove
Marina. The Woodwind I is a 30-passenger, 41-foot trimaran that sets
sail from Historic Camp Richardson Resort.
