2007 - 2008 SEASON

Homewood Mountain Resort holds a special place in the hearts of skiers and riders who have been awed by its extraordinary views. The varied ski and snowboard terrain rises dramatically up from the shoreline of beautiful Lake Tahoe, resulting in a singular skiing experience. Breathtaking views are a part of each turn you make and you have the exhilarating feeling that if you blow a turn you will end up in the lake. Homewood is designed to be a resort where the ultimate boundary is your imagination.

Located on the densely forested West Shore, Homewood is one of California's last unspoiled winter resorts. Unlike most other ski areas in the United States which occupy land leased from the U.S. Forest Service, Homewood's 1,700 acres are privately held and 1,260 are skiable. The management of Homewood is environmentally sensitive and considerate of West Shore traditions. To that end, the resort is maintained in the same nearly natural state as when silver was discovered here in the 1860's. The rustic village of Homewood that surrounds the base of the ski resort provides a variety of dining, shopping and recreational activities for off-mountain enjoyment.

The average snowfall at Homewood is 482 inches (512 inches last season). The base elevation is 6,230 feet and the summit is 7,800 feet, making for a vertical drop of 1,650 feet. There is a day lodge at the north and south base areas of the mountain.

Homewood is a powder lover's paradise! Skiers can take in fantastic panoramas from 99% of Homewood's 56 runs spread out over 1,260 acres. There are four chairlifts and four surface lifts to whisk skiers and riders to incredible powder and tree skiing and excellent groomed runs that will satisfy every skill level. The varied terrain is rated 15% beginner, 50% advanced and 35% vital intermediate. The longest run is two miles.

Homewood is a great mountain for the family that likes to ski and play together. The resort is family oriented and the friendly staff encourage nonstop fun. The varied terrain enables all of the family members to have a challenging and enjoyable experience suited to individual abilities. Kids ten years and under ski free!

Snowboarding

Local enthusiasts rate Homewood as one of the best places to snowboard in Tahoe. Snowboarders have access to the entire mountain at Homewood, allowing plenty of space on the mountain for riders to enjoy the thrills of this dynamic sport.

This resort has always embraced snowboarders. In fact, the first Boarder Cross held in the Tahoe Basin was hosted by Homewood. Each season the resort hosts several snowboard competitions. Call for information about snowboard equipment rentals, lessons, clinics and events.

And when you visit this season, be sure and carve the Shredwood Forest's varying terrain features!

What's New for 2003-2004:

  • Improved Snowmaking Capabilities
Improved snowmaking equipment is great news for corduroy lovers. With a more effective and efficient snowmaking system in place, Homewood will be able to blow snow in a wider range of temperatures. These new technologies will expand our snowmaking days and allow us to provide more snow on our lower areas, even into April! Plus, now you can look for better coverage on the lower mountain access trails in early and late season conditions.

  • Two New Grooming Machines
Homewood has purchased two brand new, state of the art Piston Bully Edge 200 grooming machines. These new machines allowing Homewood to provide a better skiing and snowboarding experience for corduroy fans.

  • Summer Grooming Opens Lower Elevation Runs
Homewood's Summer Trail Crew, using new specialized equipment, has been able to open lower elevation runs by chopping the Manzanita bushes from six feet to six inches without disturbing their root systems. They have mowed most of the 59 runs at Homewood and have even mowed such steeps as "The Face" and "Dutch Treat."

Ski Instruction and Equipment Rentals
Homewood's PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) certified ski school offers skiing and snowboarding lessons for all ages and ability levels. Programs include group lessons, private lessons and specialized clinics. The Fun Clinics program is designed to help the intermediate and advanced skier and snowboarder progress to the next level. Homewood has a well-stocked ski and snowboard equipment rentals shop.

Mountain Lodges and Restaurants
There are two day lodges that offer guests easy and convenient access to a variety of dining options. The North Lodge is at the North Side Base Area. Choose from The Ridge Grill and the Hungry Bear Cafe. The South Lodge is at the South Side Base Area, offering The South Lodge Grill and a bar.

Ski Programs for Children
At the Homewood Children's Snowsports School at the South Side Base Area, ski programs are offered for children ages 4-10 and snowboarders ages 7-10. The Snowstars Program, for kids ages 4-10, is Focused On Fun(TM). Experienced instructors teach children on an exclusive ski slope for an easy introduction to the sport as well as advancement to higher levels of skiing and snowboarding. All of the day sessions include lessons and rental equipment. Full day lessons also include lunch.
