The Crystal Quad has just
whisked you to the top of the mountain. At 8,540 feet you
are presented with one of the most spectacular 360 degree
views in the world. East, you see pure desert and the Washoe
Valley at your feet. North, you see magnificent mountains.
Southwest, you see fabulous views of Lake Tahoe. Your pulse
rises. You take a deep breath and push off. Brilliant sun
. . . crisp, fresh air . . . incredible snow . . . and breathtaking
views as you go up and down the mountain all day. This is
freedom. This is Diamond Peak!
When
you ski Diamond Peak you rediscover why you started skiing and
snowboarding in the first place. There are miles of freshly
groomed downhill terrain with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe
and the surrounding Sierra.
The resort's classic design offers terrain to encourage beginners
and challenge the best. There are 30 runs, plus open glades
and tree skiing areas. The 655 skiable acres are rated 18% beginner,
46% intermediate and 36% advanced. The base elevation of the
mountain is 6,700 feet and the summit is 8,540 feet, making
for a vertical drop of 1,840 feet. The longest run is 2.5 miles.
Diamond Peak's average annual snowfall is 350 inches and the
resort has the snowmaking capacity to cover 75% of its runs,
insuring excellent snow conditions all season.
There
are six chairlifts at Diamond Peak. All three quad chairlifts
now have Launch Pads, which are the latest technology in lift
loading systems. The Launch Pad is basically a conveyor belt
that is designed to make your loading process smoother and a
lot more fun. Diamond Peak is the only ski resort in America
with this cool new technology.
For over thirty years, Diamond
Peak has maintained the flavor of an intimate ski resort with
an atmosphere of traditional and affordable winter family
fun. Families feel safer here as all of the runs funnel into
one base area. Kids can ski by themselves while mom and dad
take some turns on their own, worry free.
Diamond Peak's "Great
Experience Guarantee" states that if you are not satisfied
with the conditions or service within your first hour of skiing,
you can return your ticket and receive a free voucher for
another day.
Snowboarding
Snowboarders love carving the wide-open groomed
runs and great powder chutes at Diamond Peak. The entire mountain
is open to snowboarders and there is a freestyle terrain park
that is open to skiers and riders. There is a freestyle terrain
park and a new superpipe.
NEW! Freestyle Snowboarding Clinic Rip it up in Diamond Peak's new Freestyle clinic.
Designed to teach the specific skills necessary for riders to
be comfortable in a wide range of terrain, the clinics cover freeriding,
carving and freestyle to create balanced riding and the confidence
to go anywhere on the mountain. Teamed with highly trained snowboard
instructors and other riders of similar riding ability, classes
will be offered daily for all levels. Two-hour sessions are offered
starting at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. For those wanting to shred
all day, a four-hour session is available at 10:00 a.m.
Snowmaking Expansion Thirty-two years ago Diamond Peak was the
first resort in the West to install snowmaking machines. Last
season Diamond Peak expanded snowmaking to include top-to-bottom
coverage on the Great Flume. This increased snowmaking terrain
to 75% of the runs, making Diamond Peak the "most-covered
resort in Lake Tahoe." Guests at Diamond Peak can plan on
great snow conditions throughout the season.
Ski Instruction Diamond Peak offers group and private skiing
and snowboarding lessons for all ability levels ages 7+. There
are a variety of packages for individuals and families to choose
from that are geared to having fun and meeting skills goals. New
three-tiered affordable programs are designed to quickly excel
new skiers and riders into intermediate ski levels. The resort
also offers special programs for children ages 7-12 and ages 3-6.
NEW! Equipment Rental Shop Upgraded Diamond Peak recognizes the importance of
quality equipment to the learning mix. Almost $200,000 in Rental
Shop upgrades this season include the replacement of the entire
boot/binding system for both skis and snowboards, as well as a
renovation of the base lodge rental shop. New millennium skiers
will be treated to better customer flow through the shop and an
improved boot-drying system that promises fresh, dry boots every
morning. These boot and binding upgrades coupled with a 100% state-of-the-art
shaped ski inventory add up to student success and guest satisfaction.
Mountain Lodges and Restaurants Diamond Peak has a base lodge and an on-mountain
lodge that offer guests easy and convenient access to a variety
of dining options. The Base Lodge includes a cafeteria and a bar.
On mountaintop, the Snowflake Lodge has a cafeteria and a huge
sundeck with a gorgeous view of Lake Tahoe.
Sierra Scout Adventures for Ages
7-12 Diamond Peak's Sierra Scout program focuses
on kids ages 7-12 having fun. For children who already know how
to ski or snowboard, program choices range from two or four-hour
group lessons to the Super Scout All Day Package. Instructors
are handpicked by the resort to supervise this active bunch and
make sure that they have a good time while developing their skills.

Bee Ferrato Child Ski Center for
Ages 3-6 Diamond Peak loves kids and offers one of
the most innovative and technically advanced ski programs for
skiers ages 3-6 and snowboarders ages 4-6. These educational,
fun and memorable programs are offered for every skiing level.
Children learn to ski at their own pace under the gentle and expert
guidance of the enthusiastic staff. A "moving carpet" surface
lift transports children to the ski hill for more on-snow time
and less fatigue. The center offers half, full, and multi-day
private and group lesson packages for skiers and snowboarders.
Equipment rentals are available. Three year olds are welcome in
private classes. The center's Snowplay Program is for little ones
who are not sure if they are ready to ski, but want to enjoy indoor
and outdoor games. Child Accommodation is available at an hourly
rate. The center is open daily between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
